About The Cloughmills McGuckians
Please sign in to see more. McGuckians had been in Mounthamilton for well over two hundred years. William Patrick McGuckian 1779 -1864 married Mary McKay from Kilmandel around 1800. They had seven daughters and three sons, one of whom William 1814-1882 married Anne McKeever of Drumavaddy and stayed on the family holding. The seven daughters all married local people and through them the family was connected with nearly every other family in the parish! William's sons Alex and John stayed on the farm. (After Alex's death, John sold the place at Mounthamilton and moved to Corkey) William's youngest son Bernard (Barney) who had spent some time in Philadelphia where his three remaining sisters and two other brothers had settled, came back and married Rose Laverty in 1891. They settled in the village of Cloughmills and it is their sons and their families who are the Cloughmills McGuckians.
